Hi, I’m Matt Stone: owner and hands-on craftsman at Built To Serve LLC. I'm a husband, dad of 3, Christian, engineer, musician, and long time fix-it guy.
I started my handyman journey sometime around age 6, holding the flashlight for my dad as he completed home projects in the home I grew up in.
Now after years of helping family, friends, and neighbors with the things that keep homes running smoothly, I realized how many people — especially widows, seniors, and single parents — need someone they can truly rely on.
Not to mention the many others around me that just don't have the time or energy to take care of their homes when something needs to be done.
That’s why I am building this business: to serve and care for people who deserve trustworthy, skilled help around the home.
Though I have bachelors and masters degrees in biomedical engineering, my wife and I decided that I would quit my engineering job to stay home and focus on raising our daughters just over a decade ago. During that time, I've completed a lot of home projects, and I've come to realize that I'm most fulfilled when I'm helping people and doing hands-on, active, and creative work.
Now that my girls are in school full-time (and sometimes the ones holding the flashlights!) I want to spend my newfound time lending a hand and serving my community, using my well-honed Mr. Fix-It skills.
As my girls tell me, "Dad, you can fix anything!"
My wife, mom, mother-in-law, neighbors, friends, and fellow volunteers on church mission trips all have independently said the same to me.
With 3 decades of hands-on experience, attention to detail, and a heart for service, Built To Serve combines professional reliability with genuine care.
I don’t just want to fix things — I want to help people feel at home again.
"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms." 1 Peter 4:10
